Volunteer Opportunities
We are open and off to a great start! There is still work to do and we can use your help! Bike Farm welcomes you to get involved. Currently, the shop needs some more tools, we need to expand our membership base, and we need to raise funds. We're also looking for more mechanics to cover shifts during shop hours. All time commitments, big and small are both helpful and appreciated! No time to physically help? Ideas, contacts, resources and other input via email is helpful for us to!

Mechanics
VOLUNTEER MECHANICS NEEDED
Currently our program consists of OPEN SHOP HOURS:

Sat. 12pm-4pm
Sun. 12pm-4pm
Mon. 4pm-8pm

During Open Shop Hours, community members can donate a $5/hr drop-in rate (or purchase a monthly/yearly membership for $20/$50) in exchange for access to a bike stand and shop tools as well as assistance from a knowledgeable volunteer mechanic.

Volunteer mechanics' primary duty is to cover shifts during shop hours. Volunteers may also help with shop operations (inventory, organizing, acquiring tools, etc.) or help organize and teach clinics and workshops. Currently we need volunteers that can rotate shifts with other mechanics. We hope to add more Open Shop Hours in the spring. Any time commitment, small or large, will be helpful and appreciated. Female volunteers are strongly encouraged to apply.

Fundraising
FUND RAISING VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP WITH:
- Developing fund raising event ideas
- Grants (finding appropriate grant opportunities and/or grant writing)
- Soliciting monetary and in-kind donations from individuals and organizations (particularly tools and $ for tools)
- Following up with donors & thanking them
- Seeking out resources within the community - Sponsorships
Events
EVENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP WITH:
- Fund raising events (promotion, locations, bands, raffles, prizes, food and drink, sponsors, volunteer help etc.)
- Classes and workshops (funds, promotion, locations, supplies, partnerships with other organizations etc)
- Events within the community (staying informed of goings on in the community, obtaining/coordinating/transporting supplies, promotion, etc)
Community Outreach
COMMUNITY OUTREACH VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP WITH
- Increasing Membership base (organizing membership drives, attending tabling events, special promotions) - Flyering Campaign (a bike farm poster in every coffee shop, bike shop, brew pub, community center, grocery co-op, so on and so on) - Advertising in print publications and web sites - Establishing community partnerships (working with bicycle advocacy groups, bike shops, public health agencies, schools, community development orgs, sustainability orgs, governmental agencies, other non-profits etc.)
